Our Statement:
The following information is what we have found works well with our chinchillas. We have gotten most of our information from breeders/owners who are more experienced with chins than we are.

Bathing: Chinchillas should never be given a bath with water. They take dust baths. I use Blue Cloud dust and give my chins a bath 3-4 times a week. I leave the dust bath in their cages for about 5 minutes then remove it.

This is one of our dust baths with a bag of the Blue Cloud dust.
Exercise: Chinchillas need their exercise. We let our chins have free run of the bathroom which is the easiest room to "chin-proof". I also let them run in a large exercise ball. Always supervise play time with your chins.

This is the exercise ball we use. The chins love it.
Houses: I keep wooden sleeping houses in the cages. Chins need some place to hide and sleep. I use untreated pine wood.

This is just one of our houses.
